New Delhi [India], March 12: In an era where student stress, anxiety, and emotional challenges are rising, schools in Delhi NCR are increasingly recognizing the importance of integrating mental health education into their curriculum. One such initiative is the adoption of structured mental health programs that go beyond awareness, ensuring students develop essential emotional and social skills alongside academic learning. K.R. Mangalam World Schools in North India has recently taken a step in this direction by incorporating India’s First Mental Health Education Curriculum, developed by The Mind Sync. This move aligns with a broader educational shift where schools aim to foster holistic student development. By embedding mental health education into daily learning, schools hope to equip students with the necessary tools to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and confidence.

This decision is a testament to the leadership of Mr. Abhishek Gupta, Chairman of K.R. Mangalam World School, whose commitment to excellence and innovation continues to shape the future of education. Under his dynamic leadership, the school is setting new benchmarks in holistic learning. Such initiatives ensure that students in Delhi NCR receive a well-rounded education that prioritizes not just academic excellence but also emotional intelligence and overall well-being.

The Mind Sync program integrated by K.R. Mangalam is designed to provide students with structured lessons on emotional literacy, self-awareness, and responsible decision-making. Teachers receive specialized training to become certified Mental Health Educators, ensuring they are well-equipped to guide students through the curriculum. This approach helps create a supportive learning environment where mental well-being is prioritized alongside academics. Overseeing the program’s seamless execution at K.R. Mangalam World School, New Delhi, is The Mind Sync’s program coordinator and psychologist, Rashika Khandelwal. She will monitor its progress, ensuring effective implementation while guiding the school at every step. From training educators to integrating mental health education into daily learning, she will provide continuous support, ensuring that teachers, students, and parents benefit from the program effectively.

Beyond training, the program emphasizes the development of five core social-emotional skills, with students undergoing skill-based assessments to track their progress. These assessments help schools identify areas where targeted support may be needed. For students requiring additional intervention, support plans and activities are provided to facilitate their social and emotional development. The program also includes parent sessions designed to equip families with strategies to better understand mental health education and support their child’s emotional growth at home. Additionally, students have access to the MindSyncKids app, which offers daily exercises to enhance emotional intelligence, reinforcing mental health education in Delhi NCR as an ongoing practice rather than a single initiative.

A central component of the program is its structured mental health education books for grades 1–10. These books cover a range of topics grounded in neuroscience and psychology, incorporating interactive activities that promote mindfulness, emotional regulation, and critical thinking. Some activities encourage collaboration with family members and the broader community, integrating mental health education into students’ daily lives in a practical and engaging way.

Ms. Priya Arora, Principal of K.R. Mangalam World School, Delhi, stated, “At K.R. Mangalam World School, we firmly believe that well-being is integral to a quality education. Our commitment to holistic development ensures that students receive a well-rounded experience that nurtures their physical, mental, emotional, and social health. Our approach fosters inquiry, conceptual understanding, and real-world application. Aligned with our mission to equip students with essential life skills, we are proud to incorporate mental health education as we take a step towards ensuring that our students are prepared not only for academic success but for life’s challenges as well.”

The adoption of structured mental health programs in Delhi NCR reflects a growing awareness among educational institutions about the importance of student well-being. As schools across Delhi explore innovative ways to integrate mental health education, such initiatives could play a pivotal role in shaping future generations. By focusing on academic excellence along with emotional literacy and resilience, schools are setting new benchmarks for holistic education in India.
